MEMBER SPOTLIGHT
Lorie continues to impress her sisters with her talents and traits
of humility, honesty, forward-thinking, humor, and passion.
Her work as our chapter’s second vice president has helped bring our sisters together with the secret sister program. She also works as chairperson for the Rose & Key awards, but we gave her this year off for good behavior.
The Epsilon ladies are grateful to Lorie for her contributions to education and our chapter, and it is with great pleasure that we recognize her as our 2024 Rose Award recipient.

After two years, she moved closer to home and joined the Sparta School District as band director for grades 4-6, now fourth and fifth grade at Helen Morgan School. During her 35 years in Sparta, Patty has been recognized as Teacher of the Year for Alpine School in 1990, Governor's Teacher of the Year for Alpine in 1996, and then again for Helen Morgan School in 2018. Patty joined DKG in 2016. Currently the first Vice President for our chapter, she enjoys arranging programs on a variety of topics, such as local organizations that we support (DASI), educational topics (teaching in Peru from a educator major's point of view, and women of color involved in suffrage), cultural (music of the Appalachians), as well as nature (Sussex County wildflowers, and the life cycle of monarch butterflies). Prior to this position, Patty served as scholarship chairperson, and served on committees for Epsilon's 60th Anniversary Celebration as well as selecting the Key Award Recipient of 2021. She also volunteers at Manna House.
Patty has truly enjoyed been a joy to being a part of DKG, and she looks forward to continuing to make new friends for many years to come.

Kathy has worn many hats in her past careers. She was a Catechist for elementary and high school students for 25 + years. She worked for the American Red Cross Disaster Services for 10+ years. She is presently a Eucharistic Minister at Newton Memoria Hospital.
Kathy has always been very active. She presently plays pickleball and is a downhill and cross country skier. You often see Kathy out on Paulinskill Lake boating, paddleboarding, swimming and canoeing. She also still water skis while her grandson drives the boat! Kathy is an avid reader, belonging to a local book club for 42 years. She also is a seamstress and quality quilter. She also is one of the kindest, generous people in the world. I am lucky to call her my friend. -- Susan Brezina NOTE: Kathy has dived right in to Epsilon activities and recently agree to serve as our Recording Secretary . Thank you, Kathy! |
