OTHER DECEMBER HIGHLIGHTS....
Thanks to all who attended our annual Holiday Luncheon on December 6th. We raised $280 from the Tricky Tray. This money will go towards Epsilon's tricky trays at the state convention in April.
Many thanks also to Mary Houghtaling for welcoming our sisters to a tour of the Kittatinny Regional High School Holocaust and Genocide Research Center (see phohto below).
As a project with her students, Mary organized the creation of this informative and meaningful collection of artifacts, books, artwork and more. (Go to the Member Spotlight page for a slideshow showing more photos from the KRS HOlocaust & Genocide Research Center.)

On a summery autumn Saturday, Epsilon sisters gathered at Sheridan's in Andover for a tasty lunch and interesting meeting.
During the business meeting, we inducted Mary Houghtaling into our chapter, who specializes in Holocaust education.
Welcome, Mary!
Alicia Citro, Vice Principal at Montague School, was the meeting's guest speaker. She promoted her district's upcoming Career Day and invited Epsilon sisters to be part of it by helping to set up and run this 1/2 day program, and by recruiting people of various careers to talk about their jobs.

Our participation will align with Epsilon's Teacher Outreach Initiative while also giving students exposure to an array of job possibilities that they may consider.
Career Day is October 13th. If you are interested in helping but have not yet signed up, please contact Lori Jeskey or Patty Curtis.
Sisters are also encouraged to sign up for DKG Pink on October 4th (2-4 PM), a fun event supporting Breast Cancer Awareness, and a trip to the MET Museum's Cloisters on November 8th (Carpool dirvers needed....contact Sue Hebel).
These are just a few of this season's many Epsilon activties. See the Calendar page for a full list.

September 6th State Meeting
Several Epsilon sister attended the September DKGNJ State meeting in Hamilton. The meeting's agenda included a presentation by Lisa Hirkaler about ways to promote brest cancer awareness. Nice job, Lisa!
May 3rd Meeting and 65th Birthday Celebration!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, EPSILON! Our May meeting and luncheon was centered around celebrating 65 years of our chapter's existence. We were honored that our recent state president, Irene Maskey, joined us for this special occasion.
After the business meeting, we enjoyed a delicious lunch and then inducted two new members who were not able to attend April's convention: Patti Silverstein and Connie Truncali. Please check out brief biographies of our newest sisters on the "Member spotlight" page of this website, and take time to welcome them at our many special events.
Our program started with a slide show that walked us down memory lane and included the voices and videos our own sisters, two of whom have moved away but remain part of Epsilon: Georgiana Lewis and Pam Raynor. The slide show reminded us of our DKG roots and all the work that previous sisters accomplished to build our chapter. We are thankful for their service which inspires us to continue supporting female educators and other worthwhile community causes.
The slide show was followed by a fun jeopardy-style game that challenged us to remember key facts and events about DKG.
Many thanks to Lorie Jeskie, who organized this meaningful program, and to all who contributed to the slide show. A special shout-out also goes to Barbara Henderson who baked rose-shaped cookies for us even though she was unable to attend the meeting.

While conducting business matters, we enjoyed a scrumptious lunch and a lovely view of Lake Iliff. We also inducted two new members who were unable to attend the state convention: Bonnie Sue Bastin and Suzanne Belvedere (See the Member Spotlight page of this website for more about our wonderful new sisters!).
Our meeting was concluded with a brief presentation by Lisa Hirakler, focused on the amazing life of Belle da Costa Greene, JP Morgan's librarian (recounted by author Marie Benedict), as well as other heroic women that the Epsilon book club has read about. On a personal note, Lisa disclosed her own struggle with breast cancer, reminding us that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer survivors are modern-day heroes who inspire all women to overcome and rise above life's challenges.
Epsilon continues to grow, serve, learn and celebrate! Check out the Calendar page of this website for details on upcoming events.

DKG International Convention
Barbara Henderson, Betty Monaghan, Sue Davis, and Patty Curtis attended the International Convention in National Harbor, MD, from July 10 to July 12. They were joined by approximately 750 other DKG sisters from around the world, representing 17 countries, including the US.
